Choosing courses

Step 1: Choosing courses

Your students will appreciate all of the help and support you can give them. As well as talking to you about their options, we also recommend that they do as much research as possible before they apply. The tools and advice on this website are a great place to start.

  • CUKAS Course Search - a comprehensive online database of courses available at the seven conservatoires in CUKAS. Students can search for courses by instrument category; instrument; course type; or by conservatoire.

  • Entry Profiles - these provide more information about the course and conservatoire, including entry requirements, selection criteria and admissions policies. They help potential applicants make informed decisions about the courses they apply for.

  • Open days - once students have narrowed down their choices, attending conservatoire open days is a great way to get a feel for a place.

  • Student with disabilities - advice for students with disabilities and where to find further information.

Other sources of information and advice

Books and guides - applicants can find books giving information and guidance on higher education online at the UCAS bookstore, elsewhere on the web or at libraries.

Prospectuses - students should get hold of the prospectuses for any conservatoires they are interested in. However, they should be aware that these are often printed many months before the application process begins and more up-to-date information will usually be available on conservatoires' websites.

Unistats - this website brings together a wealth of authoritative, official information, to compare subjects at UK higher education institutions, including data that is newly available to the public. It includes destinations of leavers from higher education and the results of student satisfaction surveys.
