Next steps

Step 5: Next steps

Once an applicant has received their results and we have received decisions from their conservatoires:

  • We will write to them if their offer becomes a guaranteed unconditional place. If the applicant does not obtain a guaranteed unconditional place at their first choice, we will write to them if their second choice becomes a guaranteed unconditional place. If they will definitely be taking up their place, they need take no action. The conservatoire will send joining instructions before the start of the course.

  • If the applicant does not intend to take up the place, they must email the conservatoire to let them know within seven days of the date on the letter; the email address will be on the letter. If the applicant refuses the place, they will be withdrawing themselves from the application cycle for that year. They will, however, be able to reapply in the next application cycle.

  • If the place is for deferred entry and they accept it, the applicant cannot reapply in the next application cycle.

  • If the applicant's place is not confirmed they can reapply in the next application cycle.

The details displayed on the applicant's Track 'choices' screen are exactly what we have been sent by their conservatoires. If there is a query about any of their choice details, the applicant should contact the conservatoire direct.

When will the applicant know if they have a place?

  • No later than 30 September 2012.
  • BUT most will know by 24 August 2012.

If an application is made through more than one of our application systems (CUKAS, UCAS or GTTR) an applicant cannot hold more than one confirmed place. A confirmed place in CUKAS is a guaranteed unconditional offer as their first choice (GU1) and in UCAS and GTTR it is an unconditional firm (UF) place. If they do receive more than one confirmed place, we will ask them to accept one and withdraw from any others.

Withdrawing an application

Applicants can withdraw their whole application at any time. Ordinarily, no refund is given, but if they are withdrawing within 7 days of submitting their original application for 2012 entry, they should contact our Customer Service Unit on 0871 468 0 470 (or 0044 871 468 0 470 from outside the UK), open Monday to Friday, 08:30-18:00 (UK time). UK BT landline calls will cost no more than 9p per minute. Calls from mobiles and other networks may vary.

Unless an applicant is withdrawing within 7 days, they will not subsequently be able to re-apply; they will need to wait until the next admission cycle before submitting another application to CUKAS.
