Application and audition fees

Application fee

All applicants have to pay an application fee of £16 (2012 entry) to CUKAS to cover the processing of their application. This fee applies to single and multiple choices.

Audition fees

Most courses require you to attend an audition or send in a recording of examples of your work. All the conservatoires in the CUKAS application system, except Leeds College of Music, require you to pay audition fees at the time of application, usually through CUKAS. (For some auditions held abroad, an audition fee is collected locally at or before the time of the audition. Leeds College of Music require you to pay direct to them once you have been invited to audition.

The amount of the audition fee may vary depending on the conservatoire(s), the type of course and whether: drama students

the audition is a live performance or a recording
separate auditions are required for two study areas, for example, different instruments, singing or conducting
the audition is held in the UK or abroad
the application is 'on-time' or 'late' - for 2012 entry: received at CUKAS by 1 October 2011 or after 1 October 2011 respectively, for music courses. For dance and drama courses the deadline may be different. Please refer to conservatoires' websites for information.

Leeds College of Music has chosen to collect their own audition fees. The other six conservatoires that recruit through CUKAS have asked CUKAS to collect most of their audition fees with our application fees. You may, therefore, have to pay some or all of your audition fees when you send your applications to CUKAS.

Some conservatoires are able to waive auditions fees for applicants who are unable to pay. You should contact the conservatoires direct if you will have difficulties paying your audition fees and are able to provide evidence of hardship. This must be agreed prior to application and you should inform CUKAS upon submitting your application that you are paying a reduced overall fee.

Your application fee and audition fees should be paid online using a credit or debit card. If you do not have a credit or debit card, you can use someone else's card, but you must have their permission.

We accept UK and international Visa, Visa Debit, Delta, JCB, MasterCard, Maestro and Electron credit or debit cards. At the moment we do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.

If you are unable to use a credit or debit card, you can pay by cheque, postal order or bank transfer. In this case, once you have completed all sections of your application and verified your email address, you will reach the Pay & Send screen. If you agree to the declaration you will then go through to the Payment screen. If you do not have one of the cards we accept, please click on the link. This link takes you to an invoice which you will need to print off, and will give you instructions as to when and how to send the payment with the printed invoice.

You must enclose a letter with your payment - remember to include your name, address and Personal ID and attach it to your payment.

Cheques and postal orders must be made payable to CUKAS and crossed 'Account payee only'. If you are paying by bank transfer you must send the official bank receipt; we cannot accept a photocopy. The bank account details are:

All payments must be in GB pounds. We do not accept Uniform Eurocheques. Write your name, address and Personal ID on the back of your cheque, postal order or other payment document and send it to CUKAS, Rosehill, New Barn Lane, Cheltenham, GL52 3LZ.

Your application will be cancelled if your payment is not received within seven days of the date of your application.
