Replying to your offers

Step 3: Auditions and offers

If we have received decisions from all of your conservatoires and you have at least one offer, we will email you to let you know there has been a change to your application, and ask you to look at Track. If you haven't provided a valid email address we will send you a letter which will ask you to reply to your offers by a given date. You must reply online using Track. Your reply date (deadline) is also shown in Track.

How and when to reply to your offers

Use Track to reply to your offers. Your reply date will be displayed on Track and printed on the letter we send to you. If you do not reply by the date given, your offers will be declined automatically. The reply date is your individual reply date so it may be different to other people's. This is because it is based on when you received the last decision from your conservatoires.

You may only be able to accept one offer as your first choice, or you may be able to accept two offers and state your first and second choices. The number of offers you can accept will depend on the type of offers.

  • If you accept a guaranteed unconditional (GU) offer you will be expected to take up this place. You cannot accept any other offer as a second choice. You must decline (D) all other offers.

  • If you accept a guaranteed conditional (GC) offer as your first choice, you will also be expected to take up this place provided you meet the conditions. You cannot accept any other offer as a second choice. You must decline (D) all other offers.

  • If you accept a reserve unconditional (VU) or a reserve conditional (VC) offer as your first choice, you may accept any type of offer as your second choice. You must decline (D) all other offers.

What happens if I accept a guaranteed offer - GC or GU?

  • If you accept a GU as your first choice, you have got a place.

  • If you accept a GC as your first choice and you meet the conditions of the offer, you have got a place.

  • If you accept a GU as your second choice and your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, you have got a place at your second choice.

  • If you accept a GC as your second choice, you have met the conditions of the offer and your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, you have got a place at your second choice.

What happens if I accept a reserve offer - VC or VU?

  • If there is a vacancy at the conservatoire and you have met the conditions of the offer (VC only) then the conservatoire may decide to make you a guaranteed offer.

  • If your first choice is a reserve offer (VC1 or VU1) and the conservatoire changes it to a guaranteed offer (GC1 or GU1), then your second choice will automatically be rejected.

If you accept a guaranteed unconditional (GU) offer as your first choice we will write to you confirming your place.

If you accept any other type of offer as your first choice, we will write to you again if this offer becomes a guaranteed unconditional place. If you do not obtain a guaranteed unconditional place at your first choice, we will write to you if your second choice becomes a guaranteed unconditional place.

When will I know if I have a place?

  • 2012 entry: no later than 28 September 2012. BUT most will know by - 24 August 2012.

If you make an application through more than one of our application systems (CUKAS, UCAS or GTTR) you cannot hold more than one confirmed place. A confirmed place in CUKAS is a guaranteed unconditional offer as your first choice (GU1) and in UCAS and GTTR it is an unconditional firm (UF) place. If you do receive more than one confirmed place, we will ask you to accept one and withdraw from any others.

Withdrawing your application

You can withdraw your whole application at any time. Ordinarily, no refund is given, but if you are withdrawing within seven days of submitting your original application, please contact our Customer Service Unit>>

Unless you withdraw within seven days, you will not subsequently be able to re-apply; you will need to wait until the next admission cycle before submitting another application to CUKAS.
