What should I do to prepare for starting at a conservatoire?

Some conservatoires send a pack explaining if there's anything to prepare. If not, contact the conservatoire and ask what pre-course reading or preparation they would suggest for your course.

Check with the accommodation office what sort of living space you will have: how furnished, cooking facilities, car parking, and so on.

Make sure that you have completed any request form for student loans, grants or bursaries, and think about what banking facilities are available at the campus, and whether you need to open a student account. Our managing money section can also help you prepare.

The conservatoire can tell you what you need to do before you start the course, so contact them to check anything else.
